Milestones
Milestones are named phases or checkpoints you can attach tasks to, things like "Discovery," "Design v1," "Launch," or "Q2 deliverables." They give a board a sense of structure beyond just Status columns.
When to use them
Milestones are useful when:
- A project has clear phases that group lots of tasks
- You want to show a client "here's where we are in the overall project" without having them scan every task
- Multiple boards share a common timeline (e.g. all tasks for the Q2 launch across design, dev, and copy boards)
For shorter projects, you may not need milestones at all, Status columns alone are enough.
Creating a milestone
From the right sidebar, click Milestones. Add a new one, give it a name, and optionally a target date.
Once a milestone exists, you can attach tasks to it from any board. Open a task, find the Milestone field, and pick the milestone. A task can belong to one milestone at a time.
What clients see
Clients with access to the relevant boards see milestones too. They show up as filterable groupings, "show me only tasks tied to Launch", which is often how a client wants to look at progress.
Marking complete
Mark a milestone complete when its underlying work is done. The completion date is recorded; tasks on that milestone are now historical reference rather than active work.
